ANTI OBESITY DRIVE

            ISA ACTIVITY
ANTI OBESITY AWARENESS PROGRAMME

Health is defined by the WHO as the State of complete physical, mental and Social well being and not merely the absence of diseases and infirmity.   But in contemporary times prevalence of obesity and its consequences  has promoted WHO to identify it as one of the most important public health problems.  Keeping the same views our school organized  :  ‘Walk for Obesity’ on 27th Sept. on Anti Obesity drive to create awareness among public.  Under this drive, students made people of different age groups, aware of the causes, consequences and prevention of obesity at District Centre , Janak Puri.
They carried banners with them to spread the message and also distributed pamphlets giving a ‘wake up call’  or awakening call for a healthy  future life.
It is truly said :-
‘It is not that obesity runs in your family,  its that no one runs in your family’

Body Mass Index Report
                                               (BMI)
Collected  and calculated data on body mass index (BMI) of students of classes 6-12 , indicate that :-
*    About 50%  the students fall under the category of “normal”.
*    25% under the category of “underweight” .
*    17% as “overweight”  and only 8% as “obese” .
The low percentage of obesity among the students indicate the prevalence of healthy eating habits . an important reason behind  such  a data is : “no canteen” in the school which compels the students to carry healthy tiffins from house.

Among all classes, 12th grade show maximum percentage of obesity which maybe due to high academics pressure & low physical  activities .
